Purpose Statement

The Harvard College Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists aims to recruit, retain and graduate more minority students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in order to increase the diversity in such fields at the College and at large. Our organization will work to advance student achievement through a combination of academic support, educational enrichment opportunities, and most important through community building at the College. This organization benefits not only minority students, but other undergraduates as well. A more diverse student body in the sciences and engineering will enrich the educational experience of every student. Diversity helps us learn to communicate with people from different beliefs, experiences, and perspectives. The ever-changing demographics of the nation require that undergraduates develop the skills necessary to work with people of different backgrounds.
